If it’s time to insulate (or re-insulate) your attic, and if you’re currently looking for attic insulation in Whitby, there are a few important things to consider. It’s important, for example, to select an insulation product that meets the specific needs of your attic. It’s also important to select a local company that specializes in insulation and can do a proper job. Finally, it’s important for you to understand the project aims and the challenges. Clearly, if you’re informed and knowledgeable, you’ll make better decisions along the way and work more productively with the chosen company.
Choosing the right company for the job can make a big difference, so it would be good to select a company that has a well-established reputation. Great Northern Insulation is Canada’s largest full-service insulation contractor. We focus on quality, selling quality insulation products and providing installations that are expert and professional. We also encourage customers to understand the ins and outs of their attic project – they will make better decisions during the installation process, and they will contribute in a more productive way to the relationship with the contractor.
The truth is, choosing the right product (or products) for the attic can be difficult. There is so much product promotion and advertising, that things can get more confusing before they get informative. Manufacturers promote products that are the “best”, and contracting companies promote services that are the “best”. It all makes for difficult purchasing decisions. However, hiring a reputable and well-established company can make a big difference - customer questions are answered directly, product recommendations are specific to the job, and customer service is considered a priority.
A good contracting company is bound to put customer satisfaction at the top of the list. At Great Northern Insulation, for example, we work directly with the customer from day one. We address the specifics of the job; we attend to the challenges of the job; and we recommend products that suit the job. At GNI, we do it right the first time, by installing quality products and providing the highest standard of workmanship. In this way, installed products perform at full potential, and the finished job brings long-term benefits to the indoor environment from one season to the next.
Attic insulation requires a comprehensive approach without taking shortcuts. GNI begins an attic project with an in-depth assessment and a follow-up report. Based on the status, we make specific recommendations that include product options and installations. We focus on a customer’s project requirements, long-term objectives, and budget considerations. When hiring a company like Great Northern Insulation, customers are in good hands from the very start of the project to the end. We make sure that customer service and support is a top priority.
GNI is all about quality products and quality workmanship, regardless of project size. We provide the manufacturer’s warranty on products that we install, and we offer our own company guarantee on work performed. In the unlikely event that a problem occurs, we solve it promptly. In the event that a repair is needed, we expedite the repair to meet industry standards. In short, we are committed to 100% customer satisfaction. So, if it’s time to insulate (or re-insulate) your attic, and you’re currently looking for attic insulation in Whitby, consider Great Northern Insulation.
At GNI, an attic insulation job begins with sealing. We seal up every hole and gap, every crack and crevice – we essentially make the attic airtight. Sealing ensures that the newly installed insulation performs at full potential. Proper sealing also ensures seasonal energy savings during the cold winter months AND throughout the hot summer months. In combination with each other, efficient sealing and effective insulation work together as a “system” – the result is an attic space that is properly sealed, properly ventilated, and properly insulated for many years to come.
The marketplace is full of attic insulation products. But in recent years, industry professionals have chosen spray foam insulation as their personal “product-of-choice”. It has also become a favorite of the installation team at GNI. Spray foam insulation is the very best product for large and expansive spaces like the attic. It has proven to be the best insulating product on the market, and when compared with other similar products, has more overall benefits and higher R-Value. It’s costly, but time after time has established itself as superior to any other product or combination of products.
Spray foam insulation is “sprayed” throughout the attic using customized application equipment. When professionally installed, it spreads out evenly, hardens quickly, and turns into a dense layer of insulation. Spray foam envelops everything in the attic: the crossbeams; the plumbing pipes; the electric wiring; and all of the HVAC ductwork. When the application is complete, there is higher R-Value than any other insulation product. But there’s more – the spray foam coverage also provides an impermeable barrier to air and moisture, and in a space like the attic, this is critical.
Another worthwhile insulation product for the attic is “blown-in” insulation. Available in fiberglass or cellulose, it’s a very affordable insulation product. “Blown-in” insulation makes for an effective “thermal blanket” throughout the attic, and provides excellent R-Value. The product is “fluffy” and therefore restricts airflow in the attic. The product is fire resistant; mold and mildew resistant; and resistant to insects and rodents. Professionally installed, “blown-in” insulation can be applied on top of existing insulation, as long as the base is clean, undamaged, and uncontaminated.
For the installation team at Great Northern Insulation, the best approach for the attic is a “hybrid” approach. The installers combine a spray foam application WITH the “blown-in” insulation, so that both products perform in tandem. The whole idea is to gain benefit from each product. The spray foam seals and insulates with superior effectiveness, and the “blown-in” product provides added R-Value and excellent dollar-value. The “hybrid” approach does it all - it provides the best insulation possible, and the best dollar-value compared to any other product or combination of products.
