So you’ve decided to insulate (or re-insulate) the attic, and you’re shopping for attic insulation in Scarborough. There are a few important things worth considering. Firstly, it’s important to select an insulation product that specifically suits the need. Second, it’s important to select an insulation contractor that specializes. And finally, it’s important for you (the homeowner) to understand the ins and outs of the project. When you are informed and knowledgeable, you tend to make better purchasing decisions and you work more productively with the contractor chosen for the job.
Choosing a good contractor can make all the difference - so choosing a well-established company with a good reputation would be a good first step. Great Northern Insulation is known as Canada’s largest full-service insulation contractor. And our focus is always on quality – we sell only quality products and we install with expertise and professionalism. We also encourage our customers to have a good understanding of their attic project. We think that it makes for better decision-making during the installation process and for a more productive relationship while we work together.
Choosing the right insulation product is not as simple as it looks. With so much product promotion and advertising, we often get more confused than informed, and that makes deciding somewhat difficult. Manufacturers tell us that their products are “best”, and contractors tell us their services are “best”. It creates some uncertainty during a purchasing decision. But hiring a well-established contractor can make a difference. A good contractor will answer questions directly, make product recommendations that specifically suit the job, and make you, the customer, a priority.
A good contractor is focused on customer satisfaction. Great Northern Insulation, as an example, works with customers from end to end. We address the requisites of the project - we tackle the challenges - and we make product recommendations that match project needs. We also like to do the job right the first time, and that means installing quality products and working at the highest standard. We want our installation to provide optimum performance, and we want the finished job to bring benefits to the homeowner’s indoor environment for many years to come.
Whether it’s a big space or not, attic insulation requires a complete and comprehensive approach. GNI provides a thorough attic assessment and an in-depth status report. Along with the customer, we make project recommendations about product options and installation approaches. We focus on what’s best for the customer: project requirements, short-term and long-term objectives; and budget. When you hire a company like Great Northern Insulation, you’re in good hands from end to end, because we make sure that superior customer service is always a top priority.
For GNI, every project is about delivering quality products and quality workmanship. We offer the manufacturer’s product warranty on everything we install, in addition to our company guarantee on the work we perform. If there’s a problem, we solve it. If a repair is needed, we expedite it, and we do our best to meet the industry standard. Simply put, we are committed to 100% customer satisfaction. If it’s time to insulate your attic, and you’re in the process of shopping for attic insulation in Scarborough, it’s worth considering Great Northern Insulation as your contractor.
At Great Northern Insulation, an attic insulation project begins with sealing. We seal all the holes, gaps, cracks and crevices so that the attic is completely airtight. Proper sealing ensures meaningful energy savings in the cold winter AND in the hot summer. And a proper sealing job also allows the insulation to work more effectively. Together, sealing and insulation contribute to a “system” that is complete - it’s an attic space that is well sealed, well ventilated, and well insulated. And it’s a “system” that delivers noticeable energy savings and enhanced home comfort at the same time.
While its true that the market is full of insulation products, it’s also true that the professionals have opted for spray foam insulation as a “product-of-choice”. Compared to all kinds of other products, spray foam insulation is the best product available, and especially well suited for a space like the attic. It has proven itself as the best insulating product on the market, as it provides more product benefits and higher R-Value than anything else. And although the product is more costly than others, the long-term savings and homeowner benefits far outweigh the initial cost investment.
When professionally installed, the spray foam product is “sprayed” into the attic with equipment that is customized for the task. The foam spreads out evenly and uniformly, quickly hardens, and results in a dense blanket of insulation. The finished application covers everything in the attic - wooden crossbeams - plumbing pipes - electric wiring - and HVAC ductwork. As an insulator, spray foam has a better R-Value than any other product. But it also provides an impassable barrier to air and moisture, a feature that enhances insulation value and resists moisture accumulation.
Another insulation product worth considering is “blown-in” insulation. It’s available in fiberglass or cellulose, and is an affordable insulation option for any budget. “Blown-in” insulation creates a “thermal blanket” in the attic, and can provide an excellent level of R-Value per installed inch. The insulation is “fluffy” and is specifically designed to restrict airflow, making it a good insulator. “Blown-in” insulation is fire resistant; mold and mildew resistant; and inhibits insects and rodents from gathering. It can be applied on top of existing insulation that is clean and uncontaminated.
For Great Northern Insulation, the very best approach for attic insulation is the “hybrid” approach. Installers begin with a conventional spray foam application, and follow with additional “blown-in” insulation. Both products perform in tandem, and the premise is that benefits are derived from each. Spray foam does an exceptional job of sealing and insulating, while the “blown-in” insulation provides additional R-Value and outstanding dollar-value. The “hybrid” method delivers it all - the best possible insulation and the best dollar-value, when compared to any other product.
