Newly-launched in August 2025 under the Home Renovation Savings rebate offering that requires multiple scopes and energy assessments, you can now save up to $1,000 on attic insulation upgrades installed by Great Northern Insulation – with no energy assessment needed.

Ontario homeowners can access this streamlined attic insulation rebate through the new Attic Rebate Program, part of the Home Renovation Savings initiative offered by Save On Energy and Enbridge Gas.

This single-measure rebate is designed to make upgrading your attic easier, faster, and more affordable, with no energy assessment required and all program paperwork handled by Great Northern Insulation. Confirm your eligibility with Great Northern Insulation, complete your attic insulation upgrades, and receive your rebate cheque in the mail – that's it!

Note: This is a new standalone rebate offering under the Home Renovation Savings program, designed specifically for attic insulation upgrades without the need for an energy audit.

If you are considering upgrading insulation in other areas of your home in addition to your attic, such as upgrading windows and doors, or upgrading your water heater, you should consider the Home Renovation Savings rebate path that requires a pre- and post-work energy assessment to maximize your rebates, as outlined here.

Benefits of the New Attic Rebate Program

  • No energy assessment required – skip the pre- and post-work assessments and avoid the upfront costs
  • Simple application process – no homeowner paperwork! Great Northern Insulation handles it all and submits directly to Enbridge Gas and Save On Energy
  • Faster rebate delivery – cheques arrive 8-10 weeks after your submission is approved by Enbridge Gas and Save On Energy
  • Get $400 - $1,000 in rebates – based on your attic’s existing insulation level and type of attic
  • Only select insulation contractors are participating in this new rebate program – and Great Northern Insulation is one of them!

How it Works

  1. Confirm your eligibility with Great Northern Insulation and get a free quote
  2. Great Northern Insulation’s experts verify your rebate amount based on existing insulation levels (called R-Value, essentially a measure of how effective your current insulation is)
  3. Complete your attic insulation upgrade with GNI
  4. GNI submits all paperwork on your behalf
  5. Receive your rebate cheque by mail approximately 60 days after your paperwork has been accepted by Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy

Who’s Eligible for the New Attic Insulation Rebate?

You can be eligible for the new attic insulation rebate offered by Save On Energy and Enbridge Gas if you are an Ontario homeowner and:

  1. You own a single-detached, semi-detached, row house, townhome (non-stacked), or mobile home on a permanent foundation
  2. Your home is heated with natural gas supplied by Enbridge Gas through a boiler or furnace. Alternatively, your home can be heated via electricity, oil, wood, or propane and you have an account with a local electric utility connected to the Independent Electricity System Operator. This is most local electric utility providers, with the exception of Cornwall Electric.
  3. You have not previously received an attic insulation rebate from Enbridge Gas, Save On Energy, or other Ontario programs (your attic insulation would already be upgraded!)
  4. Your attic insulation is R-35 or less, and you plan to upgrade 100% of the accessible attic space

Timelines For Your Rebate Journey

Although Great Northern Insulation is a participating contractor for the new attic insulation rebate in Ontario, we do not offer the rebate ourselves. Instead, the single-measure attic rebate is a new standalone rebate path as part of the Home Renovation Savings program, offered by Save On Energy and Enbridge Gas.

Below is a table outlining Great Northern Insulation’s role, your role as the homeowner, and the role of Enbridge Gas in your rebate timeline:

Rebate Stage Responsible Party Expected Timeline

GNI will assist as best we can to rectify any issues and will reach out to the homeowner if required.

Frequently Asked Questions – New Attic Rebate Program

  • What is the new attic insulation rebate program?
This is a newly launched rebate in Ontario that offers between $400 and $1,000 for attic insulation upgrades. This is a new, express rebate path in the Home Renovation Savings program and does not require an energy assessment. Great Northern Insulation also handles all paperwork for you.
  • Do I need an energy audit or energy assessment to qualify for this rebate?
No. Unlike other rebate programs, this attic-only rebate path does not require a pre- or post-work energy assessment, saving you time and money.
  • How much can I get from this new attic rebate?
Rebate amounts range from $400 to $1,000 depending on your attic’s current insulation level and type of attic. Flat attics can receive up to $1,000 in rebates, while cathedral attics or flat roof attics (with insulation applied to the underside of the roofline) can receive up to $500 in rebates. The total rebate is capped at 50% of your project cost after tax.
  • How long does it take to receive my rebate cheque?
Once your attic insulation upgrade is completed, Great Northern Insulation will handle the submission of your program application. Once the application has been approved by Save on Energy and Enbridge Gas, you can expect your rebate cheque in 60 days.
  • Will this rebate cover the full cost of the insulation upgrade?
No. This new attic insulation rebate covers up to 50% of the project insulation costs after tax, to a maximum of $1,000 depending on your attic’s current insulation level and attic type.
  • How do I know what my current attic insulation level is?
Most homeowners don’t know their attic’s R-Value. During your free quote, GNI can inspect your attic and determine the current insulation level to confirm your rebate eligibility. We can also help estimate your current attic’s insulation level over the phone if you know the approximate year your home was built and whether you’ve ever had previous insulation upgrades.
  • Can I combine this rebate with other rebates or programs?
No, this new attic insulation rebate is standalone and cannot be combined with other attic insulation rebates initiatives, including the other paths of the Home Renovation Savings program. However, it’s faster and simpler than most other rebate programs.
  • Is this rebate available for rental properties, cottages, or second homes?
Yes, but only homeowners can apply. If you’re a landlord, you can apply for your rental property/properties. Seasonal cottages may qualify if they meet the heating and insulation criteria.
  • What types of insulation qualify for this new attic rebate program?
There are no restrictions on insulation type for this rebate. As long as your attic upgrade reaches the required R-Value (a measure of insulation effectiveness), you can meet the program requirements.
This means you can choose from popular insulation options like:
    • Blown-in cellulose insulation – cost-effective, excellent coverage
    • Spray foam insulation – long-lasting, ideal for air sealing and high R-Value per inch
    • A dual-type installation of both spray foam insulation and blown-in cellulose – a long-lasting attic solution that combines the air sealing benefits of spray foam with the cost-effective benefits of cellulose insulation
  • My existing insulation is damaged or otherwise ineffective, can I remove it and qualify for a rebate?
Yes. Existing insulation that is damaged or otherwise unsuitable for a top-up can be removed by Great Northern Insulation, with an entirely new layer of insulation installed. So long as you meet the criteria for the new attic insulation rebate, this would qualify for a maximum rebate of $1,000 on the new insulation costs.
  • Who qualifies for the attic insulation rebate?
    You may qualify if:
    1) You own a home in Ontario (detached, semi-detached, row house, townhome, or mobile home)
    2) Your home is heated with Enbridge Gas-supplied natural gas through a boiler or furnace, or:
    3) Electricity, oil, wood, or propane and you have an electric account connected to the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO)-controlled grid through an Ontario local electric utility, with the exception of Cornwall Electric
    4) Your current attic insulation is R-35 or less
    5) You have not previously received an attic insulation rebate from Enbridge, Save On Energy, or other Ontario rebate programs (your attic insulation would already be upgraded, after all!)
  • What types of homes are eligible?
    Eligible home types include:
    • Single-detached and semi-detached homes
    • Row houses and non-stacked townhomes
    • Mobile homes on permanent foundations
    Ineligible home types include:
    • Stacked townhouses
    • Multi-Unit Residential Buildings (MURBs)
    • Dwellings that are more than 3 storeys in height (single detached residential homes that are 3 storeys in height may still qualify)
    • New-build homes (homes that have been built in the last 6 months)
