GNI will insulate your home properly, and provide a viable and cost effective solution that meets your needs and your budget.
As specialists in insulation, Great Northern Insulation is continuously advising customers about which insulation option would be the right one, when it should be used, and why. We never engage in selling or upselling customers on insulation that they don’t need or want – in fact, there may be cases where we would let the customer know that insulation is not required. This approach to business applies across the board to blown insulation - so if you’re currently shopping for blown in insulation in Toronto, GNI is the contractor to consider.
We will insulate your home properly, and provide a viable and cost effective solution that meets your needs and your budget. We want to ensure that your insulation issues have been addressed and resolved, and that long-term benefits are being realized.
As experts in the insulation industry, GNI can install both to the desired R-value and can help homeowners acheive whatever they are looking for.
Both are designed for use in roofing, in the attic, and sometimes inside the walls. Needless to say, both of them have their own specific advantages, and brand manufacturers are on board to support, promote and market their particular product. When it comes to actual insulation value, cellulose and fiberglass have quite similar values. Regardless of the actual R-Value of the product, GNI installs to the appropriate R-Value. However, over a long duration of time, cellulose has a tendency to settle in its place, and this settling could have an affect on the relative insulation value. In contrast, the fiberglass manufacturers argue that their product does no settling over long periods of time. Bottom line: whether the choice is cellulose or fiberglass, each product has its own potential when reacting and responding to weather conditions, based on singular product features. As experts in the insulation industry, GNI can install both to the desired R-value and can help homeowners acheive whatever they are looking for.
One of the specialities at Great Northern Insulation is blown insulation, and depending on the job, we make use of both cellulose and fiberglass products. We use only the highest quality products, and pass on the manufacturer’s warrantee to the customer. As for the installation guarantee and full customer satisfaction, this is something that we stand behind ourselves. The cellulose and fiberglass products are both fabricated to be fire resistant: cellulose is chemically treated for fire resistance, and behaves in a way that retards any potential fire from spreading; fiberglass, because of its makeup, is extremely difficult to ignite, and as a result, provides a very high level of fire resistance.
In terms of product specifications, cellulose is basically made of shredded newsprint, and is treated with anti-fungal compounds. It is comprised of 100% recycled paper and "fiberized", which means it’s separated into cellulose fibres, giving it that fluffy appearance.
Fiberglass, on the other hand, is technically produced from the fine fibres of glass - it’s a proprietary manufacturing process that gives the finished product its distinct properties and its insulating characteristics. When it comes to application, cellulose and fiberglass are both blown in, using special equipment that is designed to evenly and uniformly spread the product. Quite simply, a large hose will blow the product into the cavity, assuring full coverage everywhere, and including even the smallest, most unusual spaces. Once again, depending on the job and the customer’s needs, it is not uncommon to install cellulose or fiberglass right over existing insulation.
For GNI, doing it right also means doing it complete, with whatever additional preparation work is required - there may be a need for air sealing or draft proofing; the job may call for installation of a vapour barrier; or there may be a requirement to remove old insulation.
Today, many customers are requesting eco-friendly products – sometimes, it’s for personal health reasons; sometimes for sustainability concerns; sometimes for the product composition. For the cellulose product, the fact that it contains very high levels of recycled paper makes it a recycled product to begin with. In the case of fiberglass, it’s manufactured using recycled glass material, so it also presents as somewhat eco-friendly. Indeed, today, most product manufacturers have become sensitive to the eco-friendly consumerism, and do what they can to accommodate.
At Great Northern Insulation, we work closely with our customers from end to end, to make sure that they are completely satisfied. This includes picking and choosing the right product for the application; making sure that installation meets construction standards and local building codes (where applicable); and accommodating the customer’s lifestyle, timetable and budget.
We also know that product performance depends on the quality of the installation, and that’s why we insist on doing it right the first time – we use the proper tools and equipment, and address the safety and security of the occupants, and our installers.
For GNI, doing it right also means doing it complete, with whatever additional preparation work is required - there may be a need for air sealing or draft proofing; the job may call for installation of a vapour barrier; or there may be a requirement to remove old insulation. Regardless of the additional work, a complete job serves to enhance the integrity of the product being used.
Because of the nature of the product (cellulose or fiberglass) there are virtually no gaps, cracks or crevices that remain unfilled. Unlike some of the other insulation products, the blown in process allows for total and complete coverage - and that includes awkward corners, ceiling beams, wall and attic cavities, and plumbing and piping.
As with all insulation products, it’s worth elaborating on the advantages of the blown in options. This is all-inclusive coverage – something that the professionals like to call a “true insulated building envelope”. In the end, a properly insulated residence manages the heat and cool, reduces and dampens sound, and contributes to the overall performance of the indoor environment.
Caution! Performing A DIY Blown In Insulation Job May Result In Injury, Additional Costs, And Improper Installation
In general, the application of blown insulation is a much easier undertaking than many other forms of insulation – it is less prone to installation problems, and because of the straightforward process offers an affordable approach for many homeowners. When shopping for blown in insulation in Toronto, GNI is a contractor worth considering. You will be working with an established, reputable service provider who can deliver countless benefits: extensive product knowledge that will help you to understand your options, and then decide; excellent product availability and delivery; and the technical expertise to deal with unforeseen challenges and unique problems.
"Our house is 25 year old townhouse, My Attic temperature was too hot in Summer and too cold in Winter compared to the Ground Floor and First Floor with almost 5-8 degree difference. Called Great Northern Insulation, booked an appointment for the estimate. The technician arrived assessed the Attic provided estimates for R-60 Blown Cellulose, along with Install air baffles where possible to maintain ventilation from the eaves. Once i checked the estimates, booked the appointment to get the attic insulated. The complete process of insulation was done in less than an hour, the truck arrived with the cellulose foam with the blower. Also the technician request to inspect the insulation after the process. Now the temperature in my home is consistent from Ground floor to the attic. The best part the entire process was done super clean, all the furnitures were covered and few left over foam from the floor was vacuum cleaned to the perfect. Also the hose was brought from the window in the third floor instead of running through the stairs."
