Green ON Rebates Now Available for Home Energy Improvements

In Ontario, property owners can now qualify for Green ON Rebates when making various home energy improvements. Rebates are available when upgrading or retrofitting insulation, and can be as much as $7,200 (for purchase and installation).  Under the umbrella of the Green Ontario Fund, these rebates are offered in order to offset some of the upfront costs of insulation retrofits.

The Green Ontario Fund is a provincial agency that helps both homeowners and landlords to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and therefore reduce the province’s carbon footprint. In promoting higher levels of energy efficiency, the Green Ontario Fund offers a range of rebates and incentives that encourage everyone across the province to participate.

Green ON insulation rebates for upgrades and retrofits

Substantial rebates are being offered when hiring participating contractors to upgrade or retrofit home insulation. This work can be performed in a detached home, semi-detached home, or a row townhome. For those who rent their property, permission must be provided by the landlord.

With home insulation rebates, up to $7,200 is available (purchase and installation) for upgrades to the attic, basement, or exterior walls. A participating contractor must perform the work.

Home energy rebates are also offered for air sealing a property (this must be done along with an insulation upgrade). A well sealed home diminishes energy loss, allowing the HVAC system (heating and cooling) to perform more efficiently. Energy efficiency is simply money saving.

Working with a Green ON participating energy contractor

To be eligible for this rebate, you must work with a participating contractor. They will perform the work and submit the rebate application – all based on the pre-requisites of the program. When a project is complete, the participating contractor submits the application for rebates with the paid invoice. The full application will be sent to the property owner for review before the rebate is released.

Working with a Green ON participating contractor ensures high quality for both the product and the installation. The contractor takes care of the entire process – from the supply and the installation of insulation to submission of paperwork to the Green Ontario Fund. Once the application has been approved, the Green Ontario Fund will mail you your rebate cheque, which should take 8-12 weeks to arrive.

Great Northern Insulation is a participating Green ON contractor with highly qualified installers. GNI will assess the home for deficiencies and recommend relevant upgrades and retrofits. GNI also recommends which rebate would be of most benefit under the program.

The team at GNI does it right from the start – without compromising quality, and without taking shortcuts. Installers are licensed and certified, and all work is guaranteed to provide customer satisfaction. In business for almost 40 years, GNI has established a reliable, trusted reputation.

Home energy improvements are key to reducing energy consumption

By offering incentives and rebates to improve energy efficiency, the Province of Ontario incentivizes property owners to reduce their energy consumption, lower their energy bills, and reduce the province’s overall carbon footprint for future years.

Provincial rebates make it affordable for homeowners (as well as landlords) to undertake upgrades and retrofits that make a difference. From home energy audits to insulation upgrades, every effort is another step in reducing energy usage.

In fact, there’s never been a better time to take advantage of rebates made available through the Green Ontario Fund. Beyond the substantial upfront savings, there are also long-term savings, and with dramatic reductions in seasonal utility bills.
