GreenON Rebates for Insulation and High-Performance Windows

January 20, 2018

For homeowners who are intent on improving energy efficiency and saving money, incentives from the Green Ontario Fund will be of great interest. The dollar incentives are offered as part of the GreenON Rebates for Insulation and High-Performance Windows. The rebates are impressive - up to $7,200 for insulation and up to $5,000 for high-performance windows (select models).

Naturally, the benefits for any home are long term. Upgrading home insulation can save 15% or more on winter heating and summer cooling. And by upgrading to high-performance windows, a home’s value is increased when it’s time to sell. Big picture, reducing heating and cooling demand will decrease a home’s carbon footprint – something that positively affects climate change.

For many homeowners, the GreenON Rebates for Insulation and High-Performance Windows will be the difference between upgrading and not upgrading. A well-insulated home, properly sealed, and with high performance windows, delivers home comfort, energy efficiency, and measurable savings throughout the year. Best of all, the cash rebates make all of the upgrades affordable.

Participating in GreenON Rebates for High-Performance Windows and Insulation

GreenON Rebates are available to Ontario residents who work with participating contractors to make qualifying upgrades. Upgrades can be made to a detached home, a semi-detached home, or a townhome. For those who rent, written permission from the landlord is required.

With home insulation, rebates are available when upgrading your home. Up to $7,200 is available to offset the cost of the purchase and installation of insulation. Homeowners may upgrade insulation in the attic, basement, exterior walls, or combination of all.

  • up to $1,500 is available for upgrading attic insulation
  • up to $1,900 is available for upgrading basement insulation
  • up to $3,800 is available for upgrading exterior wall insulation

Rebate amounts are also available for air sealing a home (in conjunction with insulating). Proper sealing prevents energy loss and allows the HVAC system (heating and cooling) to work in better balance. Air sealing is an easy way to keep heating and cooling inside the home without waste.

For window upgrades, up to $5,000 is available when purchasing high-performance windows (select models). High-performance windows reduce energy loss; prevent condensation; and block outdoor noise. With improved energy efficiency, heating and cooling costs are decreased.

GreenON Rebates make it much easier to upgrade a home

Qualifying for a GreenON Rebate is made easy, providing homeowners satisfy the requirements.

  1. Work with a participating contractor to purchase/install the insulation or windows
  2. Assign the contractor to personally submit the rebate application according to rules
  3. Validate that all the work has been completed and submit a formal proof of purchase
