Building Science/Building Envelope Professional

With over 250 dedicated employees across 6 strategic branch locations, Great Northern is the largest diversified contractor of insulation throughout the province. Great Northern Insulation is looking for a Building Sciences and/or Civil Engineering student, recent graduate, or past graduate who is interested in joining our growing team.
Interests/areas of study will include:
- Energy Management
- Building Code
Potential Candidates will:
- Be nearing completion/have completed a civil engineering undergraduate program
- Have an interest/have taken courses in building sciences

Standard Job Duties:
Advance preparation and insulation of attics, walls, and other areas using materials such as spray polyurethane foam, fiberglass batts, or blown-in cellulose. Installers may also perform other services related to air and vapour barriers. Duties also include accurate and on-time completion of paperwork, loading/unloading materials and equipment, job site clean-up, and various maintenance tasks as needed.
In general, installers work in pairs, on a variety of job sites, both indoors and outdoors. Work can occur in confined spaces such as attics. Standing, bending, lifting, and ladder use are also important to installer job duties. Typical clothing and protective equipment includes CSA-approved footwear, safety glasses, coveralls, gloves, and masks/respirators when using spray-on polyurethane foam. Installers use common hand and power tools, while more specific training and knowledge is provided for spray foam equipment.
- Proven commitment to quality and customer service

- Proven problem-solving and organizational skills
- Driver's license is a MUST (D license is an asset)
- Construction experience is an asset
- Basic reading, writing, math, and computer
