Throughout the industry, more and more insulation professionals are seeing spray foam as the best product on the market. It is generically referred to as polyurethane foam, and comes out on top whenever compared to other insulation products. When applied, spray foam insulation does a much better job of sealing a cavity; it also delivers a much better R-value; and it also adds structural strength to an area after being installed. At Great Northern Insulation, we recommend the spray foam product on projects large and small, mainly because we think it’s the best insulation product on the market.
Industry data confirms that when spray foam is compared with other products, spray foam has the superior product benefits. If you are shopping around for insulation, and if you are thinking about spray foam insulation in Sarnia, consider Great Northern Insulation as your contractor of choice. We are established in the region, and are well known for the quality of work and how we approach installation. We believe in sealing tight and ventilating right. For our installers, sealing and ventilating is the only way to execute a comprehensive job – in fact, any other way would be doing only half the job.
At GNI, we are constantly hearing the same question from potential customers, that is, from homebuilders, contractors, and homeowners. They ask if the spray foam insulation product is the right product for their particular job. Well - we usually think it is, because we believe that spray foam is the best product when it’s installed as part of an overall insulation system. With a proper installation, several challenges are resolved at one time: higher-than-average heating and cooling costs are reduced; heating and cooling cycles are balanced and stabilized; and the HVAC equipment starts to operate in a more efficient manner.
Today, spray foam insulation has become a “product of choice” for many professional installers. They find it an ideal solution for sizable spaces like the attic, the roof, and even inside the walls. Installed with special equipment and a nozzle, spray foam initially sprays out as a thick liquid. It quickly expands, fills a cavity, and hardens into a thick layer of insulation that is impermeable to both air and moisture. One of the best features of spray foam is that it completely envelops an area – it covers every opening, hole, crack and crevice, and does an especially good job filling those hard-to-reach areas. No other product does it as well.
Another feature of spray foam is that a separate, freestanding vapor barrier isn’t required - it’s a feature that saves significant time and money. A vapor barrier isn’t required because the spray foam layer itself is impervious to moisture. But there are other benefits to a finished spray foam application: in general, overall energy efficiency is improved; indoor air circulation is optimized, and with it, indoor air quality is improved; and finally, HVAC equipment starts to operate much closer to its potential. At GNI, we want to make sure that a building “breathes” properly with everything operating efficiently and an indoor environment that is well balanced.
As far as installation, Great Northern Insulation is a leader in the Sarnia area. Our installation teams are highly trained and highly skilled. They are experts with the spray foam product, and with the installation procedure. They follow industry guidelines while installing, they abide by building/construction codes, and they respect local by-laws. Above all, they make sure that everything is installed according to the manufacturer’s specifications. At GNI, we stand behind our products and our installations, and for everything we sell and install, we will provide the necessary warranty for additional support.
At Great Northern Insulation, our installation philosophy is simple - we do it right the first time. Whatever the job, large or small, we get a good understanding of the scope, and the unique set of challenges that are presented. Subsequently, we recommend a product that best suits the job, and best matches the requirements. And because we know spray foam, we will usually dissuade a customer from doing a spray foam installation as a weekend DIY project. Both the product and the installation are complex, and the work is best left to an expert, someone who understands the unique qualities of the product and the challenges of installation.
In the 1960s, when the spray foam insulation product was being developed, it was used mostly in industrial applications. As an excellent insulator, it was used in the manufacture of freezers and coolers, and even used to insulate cold rooms. Over the years, the product underwent various improvements and became the superb spray foam insulation product that we use today. In every corner of the industry, installers agree that the spray foam product is the definitive insulator for larger spaces like attics and roofs. A good application seals, insulates, and covers like nothing else on the market.
At GNI, we recommend the spray foam insulation product for a new home, for a retrofit, or for a renovation. For residential or commercial applications, the product delivers results - but it must be installed properly. No product can perform to its full potential if not installed well. And that’s why our installers are the best - they are trained, licensed and certified; they know how to properly prepare an installation area; they make sure to use the proper protective gear, as well as the appropriate safety equipment; and they always make sure that occupants are safeguarded while an installation is ongoing.
The spray foam insulation product has become more and more popular during the last decade. With growth at around 40% annually, it’s all about the product’s benefits. As a matter of fact, homes that have spray foam insulation bring higher resale prices than homes without. As for the cost, spray foam insulation is known to be more expensive when compared to others. But when doing a cost-benefit comparison, the investment is worthwhile - the installation lasts a lifetime; there is no need for replacement; and the “pay-back” period is between 2 and 7 years. As a consumer, that’s what you get when you chose the best product on the market.
