GacoFlex UB-64
Liquid Urethane Rubber Base Coat
UB-64

DESCRIPTION:
UB-64 Series Liquid Urethane Rubber is a hydrolytically stable, fire retardant, two component elastomer.
USAGE:
Intended for use as a base coat on roofs, mechanical room floors, walking decks and traffic decks where urethane coating systems require fire retardance, toughness, fast cure and good solvent resistance. Suitable substrates include plywood, polyurethane foam, properly primed concrete and metal. UB-6421 is suitable for weathering and may be used as a top coat where black is an acceptable color. UB-6407 must be top coated when exposed to the weather. All colors must be top coated within 72 hours in order to achieve good top coat adhesion.

NOTE: UB-6407 colors are not controlled, as they are used only as base coat to be overcoated with color-controlled top coats. Base coat colors will vary somewhat from batch to batch.
APPLIED PRODUCT DATA
WEATHERABILITY:
UB-6407 is not designed for long term exposure to weather without top coating. Excellent durability when top coated or when UB-6421 is used.

FLAMMABILITY:
UL Classified as Class A Roof Covering System per UL790/ASTM E-108
TOXICITY:
Contains solvents that require normal precautions in handling materials of this type. Part B contains isocyanate prepolymer that is toxic if heated above 120F (49C). For non-spray applications in confined spaces or areas of poor ventilation and/or warm temperatures an air purifying respirator with organic vapor cartridges is recommended. An air supplied respirator is required for spray applications.
ADHESION:
Adheres well to wood, neoprene, Hypalon coatings, acrylic coatings and Gaco Western primers. See primer recommendations below for specific surfaces. The Gaco Western primer-sealer system is required to achieve adhesion and minimize blistering when coating concrete. UB-64 may be recoated when dried to touch with a maximum time of 72 hours. Recoating beyond that time will require sanding and a primer.

APPLICATION
PRIMER:
Polyurethane Foam Insulation: No primer necessary.
Wood: No primer necessary.
Concrete: Standard Gaco Western sealer system U-5677 and E-5320 or E-5481.
Metals Other Than Copper: E-5320 or E-5388
Copper: U-5677
MIXING:
WARNING: UB-64 Series components cannot be combined with U-66 Series components.

UB-6407 and UB-6421: Stir Part A and Part B separately to suspend any settled pigment. Combine equal volumes of Part A and Part B. Mix thoroughly with a power mixer. See Gaco Western Urethane Spray Guide for typical equipment recommendations. T-5116 thinner may be added during mixing to thin coating if necessary. Apply by spray, brush or roller with workable viscosity range (pot life), usually one hour at 70F (21C).

NOTE: When application of UB-64 is to surfaces with a temperature between 30F (-1C) and 50F (10C), mix Part A and Part B which have been warmed to 60F (16C) minimum, and let mixture stand for 15 minutes before application. This may cause a viscosity increase requiring up to 10% by volume thinner addition for application. Do not apply UB-64 materials to surfaces below 30F (-1C).

POT LIFE:
PRODUCT POT LIFE AT 70F (21C) INTENDED APPLICATION METHOD
UB-6407, UB-6421 45 Minutes Spray or Roll

NOTE: Do not apply to surfaces below 30F (-1C).
CURE:
UB-6407, UB-6421: Applied coating will set in two hours at 70F (21C) and can be used for light foot traffic after 24 hours cure. For vehicle traffic an additional 24 hours is necessary.
RECOAT:
Can be recoated when dry to the touch: UB-6407, UB-6421: 2 hours at 70F (21C).
NOTE:
See General Instructions GW-1, Section 1A and MSDS for safety and storage notes.
