Retrofit and Save Money with ecoENERGY, Ontario!

Important Notice: As of April 19, 2010 the Province of Ontario will continue to honour its portion of the ecoEnergy Rebate ( up to $5000 rebate funds) and will also continue to rebate homeowners up to $150 for pre-retrofit home energy audits. Please Contact Us for more information.

As of March 31, 2010 the Federal Government has suspended the ecoENERGY rebate program to new applicants. Homeowners that had booked their pre-retrofit audit prior to March, 31 2010, can still qualify for ecoENERGY rebates. We strongly advise that you complete your retrofit and post-retrofit audit ASAP, as limited grant funds are available. Please Contact Us for more information.

Ecoenergy OntarioThe Federal and Provincial Government of Canada provide substantial grants to property owners who complete energy efficiency retrofits. By choosing ecoENERGY, Ontario residents can qualify for grants up to $10,000 per household, and the Province will pay $150 of the evaluation cost!

ecoENERGY – Ontario residents want to know who qualifies for grant money.

  • An ecoENERGY Home Retrofit Grant offers grants for insulation to owners of single detached and attached homes, including row housing, duplexes, and triplexes.
  • ecoENERGY Ontario grants are also available to small multi-unit residential buildings including some small apartment buildings of three stories or less (built on a maximum footprint of 600 square metres or less), and mobile homes built on a permanent foundation.
  • Newly built homes that have been occupied for less than six months do not qualify. If a new home has been occupied for more than six months, there are no limits to how old a home can be to qualify for an ecoENERGY Home Retrofit Grant.
  • Houses built before 1985 will benefit most from ecoENERGY home insulation grants, because they have more potential for significant energy and home health improvements.

What are the advantages of improving the comfort and energy efficiency of my home with ecoENERGY? Ontario homeowners want to know how much they can expect to save.

  • A typical homeowner can expect to save up to $700 a year on a $2,000 annual heating bill by implementing energy retrofit recommendations.
  • An ecoENERGY home retrofit grant can be expected to yield reductions in energy use of approximately 30%.
  • Ontario homeowners can also expect greenhouse gas reductions of about 4 tonnes per house.

ecoENERGY – Ontario homeowners want to know where to start?

These five easy steps could save you up to 40% on your energy costs:

1. Start with request a call from a Great Northern Insulation representative to learn how you can qualify for Federal and Provincial grants up to $10,000. Also learn how you could WIN your utility bills paid for the rest of 2010, up to $2,500! Your representative will provide you with a no-obligation quote and recommend a licensed energy audit advisor.

2. Great Northern Insulation will coordinate an appointment with the energy advisor of your choice to provide an energy audit of your home. Your energy advisor will perform a ‘basement to attic’ home energy efficiency assessment of your home’s energy use and you’ll receive an unbiased report, including a checklist of recommended retrofits. Your advisor will also complete the paperwork for your ecoENERGY Ontario grant and forward the application to National Resources Canada (NRCan).

3. You will select the improvements from your ecoENERGY Ontario action checklist, then, contact your Great Northern Insulation representative to schedule the work. You have until March 2011 to implement the recommended work.

4. Next, contact your energy advisor to perform your post-retrofit evaluation to confirm your new energy rating and to submit the application on your behalf.

5. Based on eligible upgrades performed, your cheque will be mailed to you in approximately 90 days!

You must schedule your ecoENERGY Retrofit Homes energy evaluation with a Natural Resources Canada licensed advisor BEFORE you renovate.

ecoENERGYOnly homes that have had pre- and post-retrofit evaluations from a licensed energy advisor are eligible for an ecoENERGY Home Retrofit Grant. The grant amount is based on each of the recommended retrofits completed, and the relative impact the improvements have on the energy efficiency of your home.

You can expect your first ecoENERGY Ontario evaluation cost to be approximately $300, of which $150 is rebated by the Provincial Government. The second, or follow-up visit, is at a cost of $150 plus GST. The total cost to you is $300 plus GST.
